Kamlesh Tripathi stole his neighbour’s chequebook and the driving licence of, Ajay Singh (name changed), another neighbour. Tripathi got hold of the chequebook when the courier boy had come for delivery. As the victim was not at home Tripathi took the chequebook.
He stole Singh's driving licence and pasted his picture on it and used it as an identification proof to withdrew Rs 33,000 from his account. On learning about the incident, the victim approached the police.
Police found out the cheques, with the bearer as 'self' were encashed by Singh.
When Singh denied having any knowledge about the incident, the police checked the CCTV cameras installed and Singh identified the man as Tripathi after which Tripathi was arrested.
