The police arrested an advocate from Vile Parle on charges of cheating and forgery on Monday.

Kamlesh Tripathi stole his neighbour’s chequebook and the driving licence of, Ajay Singh (name changed), another neighbour. Tripathi got hold of the chequebook when the courier boy had come for delivery. As the victim was not at home Tripathi took the chequebook.

He stole Singh's driving licence and pasted his picture on it and used it as an identification proof to withdrew Rs 33,000 from his account. On learning about the incident, the victim approached the police.
