Ahmad Javed, additional director general (establishment), will take over as commissioner of police of Navi Mumbai after the state government announced a major reshuffle of 39 top officers.
The state got its first woman police commissioner when the government announced the appointment of Meeran Borwankar as Pune’s top cop on Wednesday.
Her predecessor, Satyapal Singh, will join the state police headquarters in Mumbai as additional director general (establishment). Singh will succeed Javed. Vivek Phansalkar will replace Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sanjay Barve. Surinder Kumar will be the new special inspector general (prisons), Mumbai.
A.K. Dhanvijay will replace Praveen Dixit as Nagpur’s police chief. Dixit has been sent to Mantralaya as Principal Secretary (Home). Incumbent PK Jain will take over as the managing director of Maharashtra State Security Corporation.
GD Pol, who held the post of Navi Mumbai police commissioner, has been named special inspector general (law and order).
Sadanand Date, who heads the newly created Force One, has been promoted to the rank of special inspector general. Date had battled two terrorists at Cama Hospital during the November 26, 2008, attacks.
Special Inspector General (State Intelligence) KL Prasad has promoted to the rank of additional director general.
Additional Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bishnoi will take over as Special IG, Nanded from SP Yadav. Yadav will take over as joint commissioner of police (administration) from BD More, who has been transferred to Kolhapur.
