In a twist in the arrested Bhojpuri actor Anil Samrat’s case, where he fired a round in an Amboli studio on Tuesday, the police found that the two Mauser pistols belonging to him bear an ‘only for army services’ mark.
The Amboli police are now investigating how Samrat, an actor and producer, got possession of the pistols.
“There is a marker on the two pistols saying ‘only for army services’. We suspect the marker is fake. The pistols also have a ‘Made in USA’ mark which is suspicious as well,” said assistant commissioner of police, Sagar Salunkhe, DN Nagar. The police also recovered five live rounds and four magazines from the actor.
“Samrat earlier had an ex-army man as a bodyguard. A police team will go to Bihar to interrogate the bodyguard,” said a police officer. He claimed to have purchased the pistols from a person from Bihar and knew nothing more about it, added the officer.
The Amboli police had registered an attempt to murder case against him in addition to invoking sections of the Arms Act, as he did not possess a licence.
