Two days after a nine-year-old girl was molested in the women’s toilet of a civic school in Shivaji Nagar, another minor from the same locality was allegedly molested by a 17-year-old boy on Saturday.
The teen has been booked under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and sent to a juvenile home in Dongri.
According to the Shivaji Nagar police, the girl, who is around four years old, was playing outside her uncle’s shop in the Sant Nirankar Nagar area around 5pm. The accused took the girl with him to a tours and travels office in the vicinity where he allegedly touched her inappropriately and molested her.
According to the Shivaji Nagar police, the incident came to light when the girl’s uncle couldn’t find her.
“The uncle had seen the child with the accused and got suspicious when he [the accused] did not return with her. After a while, he found her weeping outside the office where she had been molested,” said a police officer requesting anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
The victim’s uncle then approached the police, after which an FIR was registered,
Investigations have revealed that the accused is a school dropout and is unemployed. He lives in the same area and is an acquaintance of the victim’s family, the police said.
“The boy was caught within hours of the complaint,” said P Salve, sub-inspector, Shivaji Nagar police station.
