The Navi Mumbai police have arrested three gangs that were planning dacoities in the city.
Among those arrested is a notorious criminal who was booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) two months ago.
The police have seized three country-made pistols and sharp weapons from each of the gangs.
The gangs were planning dacoities at Millennium petrol pump in Kopri village of Vashi, in Rabale and in Nerul.
“We have arrested seven notorious criminals in our drive to flush out such elements from the city before the elections,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Dudhe.
“Among those arrested are Rahul Angre (25) of Airoli who is involved in several cases of murder and rioting,” Dudhe added.
“He was plotting to loot the petrol pump on Monday along with his accomplices.”
