Protesting against the arrest of self-styled godman Asaram in a sexual assault case, around 250 people shouted slogans outside Mulund railway station between 6pm and 7.30pm on Monday.

“There was no hindrance to traffic movement as the protestors shouted slogans on the side of the road,” said PM More, senior inspector of Mulund traffic police.

Meanwhile, the Sion police arrested 108 people for protesting against Asaram’s arrest on Sunday.  The supporters had gathered from Thane, Navi Mumbai and Goregaon, and blocked Sion circle between 2.15pm and 3.30pm.

“We booked them under section 143 of the Indian Penal Code for unlawful assembly and under the Bombay Police Act for violating commissioner’s order,” said an officer of Sion police. All the protesters were let out on bail.

The Indore police arrested Asaram on Sunday after a 16-year-old girl, who used to study in one of his ashrams, alleged that he sexually assaulted her last month.
