Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani, on Friday, asked the central government to persuade Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to dismantle terrorist infrastructure. Advani's comments come against Zardari's impending visit to Ajmer, to visit the holy shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.

Advani, who was in Mumbai on Friday, said that Pakistan must honour its promise made to former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. "The then president of Pakistan [Pervez Musharraf] promised that no part of their soil would be used for terrorist activity and he would destroy all such existing infrastructure," Advani said.

He said that the Indian government should stress upon Zardari that to facilitate good relations, such terror infrastructure should be destroyed at once.

Commenting on a recent news report about suspected troop movement towards Delhi in January, Advani complained of a trust deficit between the armed forces and the government.

"There is a trust deficit, which led to this whole thing. It would be good that Army be kept out of this. It would be good if such remarks are not made against the Army," the BJP leader said. He said that people still have faith in the army and no one would be able to lower its prestige.
