ATS chief to depose in Grover case

Rakesh Maria, chief of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, is likely to testify before the sessions court trying Kannada actor Maria Susairaj and her fiancé, naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew, for allegedly murdering media executive Neeraj Grover.

The trial court summoned the ATS chief asking him to be present in court on May 27 for testifying as a defence witness.

Maria was the chief of the Mumbai police crime branch then.
Defence had contended that Maria and the crime branch had devised a theory and then found evidence, including use of petrol cans and a car by the accused, to back their theory.
