The Santacruz police investigating the case of the women slapped at Juhu beach stated that the attacker appears to be from a “well-to-do family.” The 33-year-old marketing professional was slapped when she was jogging alone at 8.30pm. The woman fell and the attacker escaped.
“The attacker appears to be from a well-to-do family as he was neatly dressed. As per the descriptions given by the complainant, the attacker was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans. We have passed on the description to beat policemen deployed in the area for patrolling. Investigations are on to catch the accused,” said Arun Chavan, senior police inspector, Santacruz police station.
The woman had approached the policemen at the chowky on Juhu beach, where she was asked to wait for five to six minutes and was later directed to Santacruz police station to lodge a complaint.
“The process of departmental action has been initiated. An officer will investigate this,” said Chavan.
The victim whose name has been withheld on her request stated that she is happy that an inquiry has been initiated.
“That (the inquiry) is more important,” she said.
