With the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) planning repair works, a stretch of the Mumbai- Pune Expressway in the Khandala ghat section will be kept closed for traffic for 15 minutes four times a day on June 15 and June 16.

According to MSRDC officials, traffic will not be allowed on the expressway during these blocks, which will be imposed between 12pm and 4pm.

The repair work will include strengthening of rocks in the hilly area to prevent landslides during the monsoon.

“There is a fear that boulders might fall on moving vehicles. As we do not want to take a risk, we have decided to close the entire stretch where repair work will be carried out,” said an MSRDC official, requesting anonymity.

Two people were killed and three others were seriously injured after their cars were caught under boulders and debris because of a landslide near Adhoshi tunnel on the expressway in July last year.
