Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray’s health, which deteriorated since Saturday, stabilised on Sunday.

A Lilavati hospital source attending on Thackeray at his residence Matoshree in Bandra said the Sena chief’s health dipped on Saturday following a bout of cough
and breathlessness, which has been stabilised.

“Thackeray is suffering from a pancreatic ailment which has caused jaundice. This has made him weak. He is very drowsy and is being given oxygen and intravenous fluids,” the source said.

Rumours of Thackeray’s failing health gathered steam on Saturday evening after the entire Thackeray family, including MNS chief Raj Thackeray rushed to Matoshree.

Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut dismissed rumours of Thackeray’s failing health.

“Balasaheb is absolutely fine. The rumors spread about him are completely false. He has wished everyone a very happy Diwali and a prosperous new year,” he said.

The Sena chief has not been keeping well since July when he was admitted to Lilavati hospital with ailments related to his lungs and pancreas.
