Sena chief Bal Thackeray will address the Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park on Sunday.
Party executive president Uddhav Thackeray made the announcement at the inauguration of the Maharashtra Cine and Television Sena (MTCS) office in South Mumbai on Thursday.
“Balasaheb has expressed his wish to address the rally and he will be guiding our Sainiks on that day,” Uddhav said.
The senior Thackeray’s presence is crucial for Sena as he will be officially launching his grandson, Aditya, into politics as the head of the new youth wing — Yuva Sena.
His speech will also be a pre-election speech for the crucial Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) polls scheduled at the end of October. “We have not discussed whether he will be addressing a public meeting before the civic elections,” Uddhav said.
The Sena is facing stiff competition from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Meanwhile, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has shifted his base temporarily to Kalyan where he will be staying and campaigning.
During the inaugural speech, Uddhav took potshots at his cousin saying that while few people liked to talk, others worked.
