They came armed to rob a bank on SV Road at Kandivli (West), but they were not prepared to be outdone.

Mahendra Mishra, 42, and Jairam Purohit, 25, residents of Dahisar (West) and Nagpada, along with a woman, entered the Kandivli branch of the Western Union Money Transfer located at Gala number 2 in Vidya Vijay building around noon on Monday.

On seeing only four employees present in the office, they took out their firearms and threatened them with dire consequences.

“The four employees, though scared, managed to nab the duo, as soon as some customers entered the office,”said LG Shinde, assistant police inspector of Kandivli police station.

“The woman accomplice managed to escape. One of the employees informed the police about the incident.”

The police said that without the help of the employees it would have been difficult to nab the duo. “Both Mishra and Purohit have several robbery cases registered against them. We will produce them in court on Tuesday,” said Shinde.

The police are now searching for the woman.
