If you are not confident about your driving skills, you can now enroll for a refresher’s course organised by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport.|

Apart from polishing the driving skills of its drivers, the undertaking offers a course for the general public at selected depots and also holds a training programme for beginners.

For light vehicles such as cars, the course will be conducted at the Anik depot, and for heavy vehicles such as bus or truck, the programme will be held at the Dindoshi depot.

The fee for the refreshers’ course for light and heavy vehicles is Rs. 120 and Rs. 175 respectively. While the fee for training for light vehicles is Rs. 3,500, it is Rs. 4,500 for heavy vehicles.

“Since May 2009, BEST started providing training for drivers,” said Virendra Bagul, deputy public relations officer, BEST. In 2012-13, 29 people and 15 officials took drivers’ training, through which the undertaking earned Rs. 42,320.

In refresher’s as well as the regular driving programme, people are trained according to the Centre Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. “We also allow participants to attend the art of living and stress management sessions held for our drivers,” said a BEST official.

The official said that if a group of 9-10 people enrolls for the course, the undertaking could consider the provision of a pick-up facility.
