A heated argument between a biker and BEST bus conductor over rash driving led to the latter being robbed at Jogeshwari (West) on Saturday.

Bus conductor, Ananda Jadhav, 48, alleged that his gold chain, three gold rings and the ticket money collected were snatched by the biker and the pillion rider after the bus brushed past their bike.

The incident took place around 5.30pm when the BEST bus no 181, going towards Malwani from Antop Hill, was stuck in a traffic jam at SV Road in Jogeshwari.

The biker and the pillion rider, in their late twenties, got into a heated argument with the BEST bus driver and conductor saying that the driver was driving negligently, the police said.

The argument between the BEST employees and the bikers disrupted traffic when the biker parked the motorcycle in front of the bus.

The duo boarded the bus and abused the driver and the conductor and snatched his gold ornaments and cash collectively worth over Rs 75,000.

“The duo also assaulted the driver before speeding away,” said a police officer. The conductor then approached the police alleging that the duo snatched his gold chain and wallet.

The driver and the conductor of the bus noted down the bike’s registration number.

“The regional transport office was closed on Saturday and Sunday so we have begun looking for the two today,” said M Bodke, police inspector of Amboli police station.
