With repeated complaints coming in from Bandra residents regarding an ‘illegal’ ramp adjoining Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Member of Parliament (MP) from North Central Constituency (that includes Bandra, Khar, Santacruz) Poonam Mahajan has written a letter to the civic body on the issue.
Mahajan had written a letter to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Sitaram Kunte on January 29 to undertake demolition of the illegal ramp on the concrete road. As per the local residents, the ramp causes an obstruction in accessing the road as the actor, on many occasion, uses it to park his vanity van.
Mahajan said, “Several residents have come with complaints to me regarding the ramp which causes an obstruction to access the road. The ramp is built on the road which is under BMC, thus I have asked for its demolition.”
Calling the ramp illegal, Watchdog Foundation and others protested last year in August outside the actor’s bungalow. A local activist had also filed a nuisance lawsuit with a court in Bandra last year against the actor for illegal construction of a ramp adjoining his residence. Residents said that they have been long complaining about the ramp to the local ward office but no action was taken.
Vijay Kamble, H-west ward officer said that there have been no directions yet from the commissioner’s office regarding the demolition of the ramp.
“The land belongs to the actor, there have been several inspection and we are also ready to hand over the land but the BMC hasn’t yet taken it,” said a source close to Shah Rukh Khan.
