A day after the HSC exam results were announced, the Mumbai divisional board on Thursday received more than 600 applications from students seeking verification of marks.
“So far, we have received more than 600 forms and are expecting the number to increase over the next few days,” said Siddheshwar Chandekar, secretary of the divisional board. The board has asked students to apply for verification of marks from May 26 to June 4.
Students are unhappy with their scores. Megha Darji, who is studying commerce in Narsee Monji College of Commerce and Economics, Vile Parle, is not satisfied with her score in Organisational Commerce. “I scored 79 out of 100. But I am sure I should have got at least 85. There must have been some error while correcting,” she said.
Himanshu Upadhyay, who is studying commerce in KJ Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce, Vidyavihar, is considering giving his Economics paper for re-evaluation. “The college prelim correction is often said to be the toughest. I scored 68 out of 80 then. I had also topped in college. I am confident I should definitely get more than 90 in the paper,” said Upadhyay who scored 83 in Economics.
Accelerated re-evaluation of marks for JEE students
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has offered accelerated re-evaluation and verification of marks for students who took the Joint Entrance Examination.
Photocopies of answer sheets, verification and re-evaluation of marks and rechecking will be given to such students on a priority basis by the state board, stated a press release issued by the board on Thursday.
Students who appeared for JEE need their HSC mark sheets to submit to the engineering colleges at the time of admission and also to find out if they have qualified in the top-20 percentile in the board to be eligible for admission to Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
Other students have to submit the photocopy of the answer sheet along with an application for re-evaluation of marks within four days of receiving the photocopy.
