Parish news, events, discussions and updates are now just a click away. The Archbishop of Bombay, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, inaugurated the Catholic Communication Centre in Colaba on Saturday to commemorate the 125th year celebrations of the Archdiocese of Bombay.

"By moving to the web, we are hoping to reach out to the youth of the city," said Cardinal Oswald Gracias, who also launched the official website of the Archdiocese, www.archdioceseofbombay.org. The website will include an open forum to discuss events being organised in the 122 parishes in the city."

The evening also marked the Eighth Examiner Awards for Journalism 2011 ceremony. Father Allwyn D'silva, parish priest of St John the Baptist Church, Thane, was awarded the Golden Pen Award for his work on energy conservation. IAS officer Steven Lawrence D'souza won the Silver Pen Award for his work on social justice.

The two awardees were presented a cash reward and trophy for their contribution to society, said Father Anthony Cheranghat, editor of the Examiner magazine.
