Crime branch unit 12, on Saturday evening, conducted a raid in a flat in a building in Borivli (East) near Tata Steel.

The police booked Piyush Seth, an alleged bookie, for reportedly placing bets on the India versus Bangladesh match.

Sources said the police received a tip-off, following which they carried out the raid near the Magathane area of Borivli (East).

The police have recovered a laptop and mobile phone from Seth.

One more person who was found with Seth in the flat has also been booked, said the police.

The officers are trying to trace others who were in touch with Seth in the betting.

Sources reveal that they are in the process of going through his mobile phone records and his laptop will be sent for forensic tests to find out the involvement of the other persons.

Crime branch is keeping tabs on the activities of bookies as the ongoing World Cup is expected to see a lot of betting taking place.
