The Borivli police, investigating the death of 45-year-old Seema Pathare, said the CCTV footage from the building shows many people entering and leaving the highrise, around the time the murder took place.
Investigating officers are now recording the statements of several people, including plumbers and electricians, who had visited the building. “We are scanning the identity of every visitor who came to Krishna Classic building that day. We have recorded the statements of the family’s domestic help and the woman’s daughter,” said Balsingh Rajput, deputy commissioner of police, zone XI. The police said the murder may have been committed by an insider.
Further, it is suspected that Pathare was killed while she was taking a nap as there was no sign of struggle. He body was found in the bedroom of the house by her daughter Manasi, 19, when she came back from college.
“Noticing blood coming out of her mother’s nose, Manasi alerted the neighbours,” said an officer, adding that while Pathare’s earrings and a gold bracelet was missing. Pathare’s husband Jayprakash, a retired accountant, was out of station at the time of the incident.
The police will also record his statement in the case. The family had moved to the building one-and-a-half years ago, the police said.
