Dismissed police officer Arun Borude, who is accused of raping a minor girl, filed an anticipatory bail application in the Mumbai sessions court on Thursday. The plea is likely to come up for hearing before principal sessions judge ML Tahaliyani on Friday.
Though legal provisions in Maharashtra require the applicant seeking anticipatory bail to remain present before the concerned court, the absconding police inspector is not likely to show up on Friday.
Public prosecutor Mohan Sawant said they would insist on Borude's presence.
Apart from charges of raping a 15-year-old girl, a separate case has also been filed against Borude for trespassing and house breaking, as the house where the alleged crime took place had been sealed by a local court in connection with another litigation.
