The police are investigating the death of an eight-year-old boy who fell from the thirteenth floor of an under-construction building at Kurla (West) on Saturday morning. As per procedure, the police registered an accidental death report.

However, because the police came to know about the incident indirectly through the locals - instead of being informed by the victim’s family or friends - they are investigating to ensure no foul play was involved. The parents of the boy work as labourers at the under-construction building.

Senior police inspector KS Chaudhary from the VB Nagar police station said, “ It does appear to be an accident. We just want to be sure there is nothing more to it.”

An officer from VB Nagar police station talking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to talk to the media said, “We found out that the parents of the deceased had gone to their hometown in Hingoli district in Maharashtra to perform the last rites. Once they are back we will record their statement.”
