Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will take action against the enumerator and the supervisor who had roped in a minor student for carrying out census exercise.
The enumerator, a retired officer, roped in his son, a Class X student, for the census exercise that has been extended till July 15.
According to civic officials, such recruitments had not been authorised.
"We are probing the case and will take strict action against the enumerator and the supervisor. We will issue show cause notice to them and see their reply, and then accordingly decide on action," Additional Municipal Commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said Tuesday.
The first phase of the 15th National Census began from May 1 and ended on June 15. But as work was pending the exercise has been extended till July 15.
The tenth class boy, who had just finished his SSC exam, was found carrying out the census exercise in some residential pockets of LIC Colony in suburban Borivali.
The civic body will take corrective steps in this matter and will again carry out the census exercise in this area to ensure there was no error, Mhaiskar said.
Around 27,248 enumerators are surveying an average of 150 households each.
