Malik says he was painting her bedroom walls when the incident took place.

“Even in the last conversation with my daughter on October 24, she told me Malik had been pestering her marry him. He would keep threatening to destroy her if she did not agree. He would even follow her when she went jogging in the evening,” alleged Kohinoor Begum, who flew in last night from Kolkata.

Rinky was not interested in marrying him, as Malik was not doing well in his profession and did not have a steady inco-me.

“She was successful and earning a decent living, which made Sahil jealous. He killed my

daughter,” said Rinki’s mother, who had warned her daughter to be stay away from Malik.

“If my daughter had to kill herself, she would have done so in the first few years when she was struggling in the city. But now she was doing well in her profession and had no reason to kill herself,” Kohinoor said.

According to Kohinoor, Rinki wanted to return to Kolkata and settle down in a few years.

Rinki, who came to the city eight years ago, had changed her name from Shabhnam Mandal to Priyanshi Chowdhury. She was married to a Bollywood scriptwriter in 2005, but divorced him a year later.
