The share brokers directors of Sunchan Securities Limited — Kanchan Mansigani and her husband Sunil — had been managing Sharmila’s stock market investment since 2008.

In July 2008, Sharmila had given them a cheque for Rs 25 lakh for buying certain shares. But no shares were purchased with this money.

The accused admitted that they had not bought shares, and returned her money by way of another cheque, which came to be dishonoured when Thackeray deposited it in December 2008.

Acting on Sharmila's complaint, Dadar metropolitan magistrate has issued summons, against which Mansiganis have come to the high court.

The case will come up for hearing next week before single judge bench of Justice V M Kanade.
