Builder Yusuf Lakdawala and his wife Sabeena were arrested on Thursday after yesteryears actor Sadhana filed a case against accusing them of terrorising her.
“Lakdawala was arrested three days ago and was released on bail by the Bandra metropolitan magistrate’s court the same day,” said Madhukar Chaudhari, senior police inspector of the Santacruz police station.
On August 13, Sadhana had filed a first information report against Lakdawala.
Sadhana lives on the ground floor of Sangeeta Bungalow, which is owned by singer Asha Bhosle, while the Lakdawalas reside on the second floor.
In her complaint, Sadhana claimed that there was some water problem at her residence and when she had asked her secretary to check the tank on the terrace, Lakdawala’s family did not allow the secretary to do so. Subsequently an argument broke between the two.
Calling his arrest “foul play”, Lakdawala claimed: “Chaudhari had called me and asked me to come to police station. He told me that they [police] would be in a problem if any question is asked in the assembly.”
Lakdawala said they had assured to release him on a personal bond but arrested him.
Sadhana had, on September 4, met commissioner of police, Sanjeev Dayal, who had promised necessary action.
