A case of robbery was lodged against two unidentified persons on Sunday for robbing a Khar-based businessman of cash and valuables worth Rs 1.25 lakh.
The incident took place around 9pm on Sunday at a garment shop on Linking Road in Khar (West).
Vinod Shahadatpuri, 39, the owner of the shop and the complainant in this case, was preparing to shut shop when two men, armed with a revolver and a chopper, barged inside and threatened to kill him and his two employees if they raised an alarm, said the Khar police.
The duo cornered Shahadatpuri and his two employees and asked them to hand over the ornaments they were wearing.
When Shahadatpuri resisted, one of the accused struck him with the chopper, resulting in a minor cut on his head. After robbing the ornaments, they went to the cash counter and stole `25,000.
Shahadatpuri then approached the police and lodged a complaint.
“The men had not covered their faces and according to the complainant, he had never seen the duo before. We will be preparing sketches of the duo based on the description given by the complainant,” said Sanjay Kale, police inspector of Khar police station.
The police have booked the accused on charges of robbery and assault under the IPC. They have also been booked under relevant sections of the Bombay Police Act and Arms Act.
