The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet issued a recalculated percentile for Dhyey Patel, a student from Mumbai who was revealed to have scored 80% in the HSC exams after he submitted his papers for re-evaluation.

The HSC board had forgotten to include his internal marks and had failed the boy.

However, despite informing the CBSE about his improved score, Patel had not received his recalculated percentile that is essential for him to secure admission to NITs.

As Tuesday was the last day to choose the institutes, Patel was forced to blindly choose one as he was unaware of his recalculated percentile as of Tuesday night.

“We had to select colleges blindly as we do not know his recalculated percentile. This is unfair as we had informed the CBSE in advance and they had promised to send it in time,’’ said his father.

Patel’s rank in JEE Main has now improved because of the improvement in his marks. His All India rank is now 24,941 and state rank is 2,212. His previous rank was 77,000.

“With this rank his chances of getting admission in an institute of his choice improved,’’ said his father.

Patel had applied for re-evaluation as the HSC board had failed him in the HSC class improvement exam.

Having scored 73% in HSC, Patel was shocked to find he had failed that exam. The re-evaluation revealed however, that the board had not added his internal marks. His recalculated score was 80%.

“I am shocked the HSC board made such a grave mistake,’’ he said.
