Chain snatcher arrested in Mulund

A history-sheeter, Kuldeep Bhatti, 35, who has more than 100 cases of chain snatching registered against him, was arrested in Mulund on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 7am on LBS Marg when Bhatti attacked a taxi driver with a wooden stick and snatched Rs1,170 from him. Bhatti attempted to flee the spot when two police constables chased him. He was caught and arrested. “Bhatti is a habitual offender and has more than 100 cases of chain snatching registered against him since 2003,” said inspector R Kothmire from Ghatkopar police station.

Bhatti has been booked under sections 332 and 394 of the IPC and has been remanded in police custody till July 10.
