A few days ago, the girl approached Laljipada beat chowky, Kandivli (West) and complained to the police that her father had not been allowing her to meet and live with her grandfather in Chennai.

Having learnt that she was being sexually assaulted, the grandfather approached Charkop police on Tuesday and lodged a compliant against Das.
“Das would also get four of his friends to his house and allow them to rape the victim. He would then charge them money for it,” said Sanjay Bannerjee, deputy commissioner of police, Zone XI.
Bannerjee said Das was addicted to liquor and drugs. “He was unemployed, and he used the money earned from his friends to buy liquor and drugs,” he added. Das, police said, went to Cambodia in 2000, where he married a Cambodian national. The victim was their child.
The police said Das divorced his Cambodian wife in 2003, after which their daughter was handed over to a local NGO, then moved to Kolkata’s Missionaries of Charity, who traced her father in 2004, contacted him and gave her back to him.
