A toll plaza at Vadpa village on Bhiwandi-Kasara-Nashik road was attacked by the Shiv Sena activists. The activists claimed the toll collection agents assaulted Shiv Sena MLA Daulat Daroda.

Gammon India, which has constructed the 100-km four-lane road from Vadapa village to Gonde village (Nashik) and a week ago, began collecting toll from vehicles.

Daroda said, “I was returning from Thane on Wednesday with my family when my vehicle was stopped at Vadapa village for toll.” “My son Karan told the toll collector that since an MLA was in the car, we should be excluded from the toll as per government rules. The toll agent, however, assaulted my son,” he added.

Daroda said he came out of the car to shown the agent his identity card, when other agents assaulted him.

Daroda went to Padgha police station and registered a case against toll agent.

Ramnna Murthy, manager, Gammon India, refuted the allegations. “Our toll plaza, is fully automatic. However, due to some technical faults the vehicle was stopped. A boy alighted from the vehicle and began assaulting one of our agents. Daroda also joined in after which hundreds of his supporters came and attacked the toll plaza.”
