In its first year of autonomy, St Xavier’s College has re-introduced the practice of conducting an aptitude entrance test for its two unaided courses — Bachelors of Mass Media (BMM) and Bachelors of Management Studies (BMS) —unlike the general university norm of considering only the Class 12 scores.
“We are ensuring that the students show an inclination towards the course from the beginning,” said Father Frazer Mascarenhas, principal, St Xavier’s College.
As per the revised pattern, the entrance procedure, comprising 100 marks, will be based on the candidates’ overall performance in the entrance test as well as the board exams. The new system consists of an entrance exam (60%), marks obtained in the Class 12 exam (20%) and a personal interview (20%). Candidates can apply online by logging on to the website (www.xaviers.edu), which will be available till June 1.
The two-hour entrance exam has been scheduled for June 7 (BMM) and June 8 (BMS). “This is an attempt to give all the candidates a fair chance to secure a seat,” said Madhuri Raijada, BMM co-ordinator, St Xavier’s College.
