City gets first crèche at a multiplex
PVR Cinemas will open the city's first crèche within a multiplex on Saturday at its High Street Phoenix outlet at Lower Parel, Humaira Ansari reports.
Parents of toddlers can now catch up on the latest films without having to worry about their children. PVR Cinemas will open the city's first crèche within a multiplex on Saturday at its High Street Phoenix outlet at Lower Parel.
The crèche, which will be run by the daycare centre chain Jumping Genius, will be open from noon to midnight throughout the week and will take in children between the ages of 10 months and eight years.
“Some of our patrons had been saying that they don’t come to movies because they have tiny tots to take care of at home,” said Sameep Pathak, regional manager for PVR Cinemas. “So, about a month ago, I thought of setting up a crèche within the theatre’s premises.”
At a cost of Rs. 300 for three hours, a team of five professionals will care for up to 10 children at a time.
“We will engage them in different activities and ensure that they have fun,” said Chandni Mehta, child psychologist and founder of Jumping Genius.
Child counsellor Aradhana Ranglani said the concept will work if it is run professionally.
“For the children too, it is better to indulge in fun and play rather than be dragged to a movie that doesn’t interest them,” said Ranglani.
