If sunny mornings and rising temperatures made you wonder if summer is already here, you may be pleasantly surprised to know that the winter season is still on and will stay on till February-end.
According to officials in the weather department, the minimum temperature recorded at Santacruz, which was 17ºC for two consecutive days, dropped to 15ºC on Wednesday, a notch lower than the normal minimum temperature while the minimum at Colaba continued to stay at 20ºC. The maximum temperature was normal at 30ºC.
“These temperatures are normal for this time of the year. The fluctuations are caused due to variations in the direction of the wind,” said VK Rajeev, director, India Meterological Department, Mumbai. “There are no long term synoptic symptoms,” Rajeev said.
The month of March will be a transition month, from winter to summer or pre-monsoon season. Mumbaikars are already complaining. “I can’t bear heat. The city witnessed winter this year and I am feeling sad that this season is coming to an end,” said Shilpa Deshmukh, graphic designer.
