A civic team on Friday demolished illegally extended parts of Zenzi, the plush lounge-bar in Bandra on Waterfield Road.

Zenzi staff members said they cooperated with the civic team and themselves helped bring down a wall on the premise too. Zenzi had built a shed outside the pub in open space. Civic officials added that the bar also had a kitchen on the first floor, which falls under residential use. The BMC sent a notice to the bar under the MRTP Act and a subsequent police complaint against the owners had also been lodged.

"Our civic team went to the spot on Friday and brought down the illegal additions and alterations. The Zenzi staff also co-operated with us," said MM Kshirsagar, Assistant Commissioner.

Anil Kably, the spokesperson of Zenzi said, "We have demolished the wall on our own. The wall was supposed to be 5 feet, instead of 7-8 feet.” He said they had all the documents and licences and there was nothing illegal. The petitioner claimed that despite court hearing on the matter, owners of the restaurant continued to encroach upon the open space. As per the court directive, the BMC served a MRTP notice and registered a complaint on August 5.
