National Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari has accused the Congress of indulging in ‘vindictive’ politics against crusader Anna Hazare and his team.
“Congress tries to find loopholes in everything that goes against the government. First they tried to target the BJP on the Gujarat issue, then attacked Baba Ramdev and now they are against Anna because he raised his voice against them,” said Gadkari on Saturday. “More than Anna, the party [Congress] and its ministers who have been named in multi-crore scams have dented peoples opinions and it will have an impact on the upcoming elections.”
Gadkari was reacting to the fine imposed on Arvind Kejriwal and the attacks on him and another Team Anna member, Prashant Bhushan. Referring to the Raja and the 2G scam, Gadkari said there was no use blaming the alliance partner. “The prime minister needs to take charge of this issue,” he said.
Commenting on corruption charges on Karnataka BJP chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, Gadkari said the party had insisted that he immediately step down after the Lokayukta pulled him up. “The charges on Yeddyurappa are related to change in land use. Also, the case is still being investigated. It can’t be compared to the large scale corruption cases of the Congress,” he said.
