Alleging corruption in the administration of the Shiv Sena-BJP ruled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Swabhimaan Sanghatana President Nitesh Rane on Wednesday said his organisation would enter into the civic electoral fray on development plank.
"We are told that crores of rupees are spent for providing basic infrastructure facilities and development of the city. However, several problems still remain unsolved," he told reporters in Mumbai.
Whether it is the condition of civic hospitals, cleaning the drainage system or collection of garbage, the BMC has failed to deliver satisfactory results, said Nitesh, son of Maharashtra Minister and Congress leader Narayan Rane.
He alleged corruption in the civic body and said tenders are awarded to those close to people who are running the BMC.
Nitesh also released a calender, for the second year running, highlighting various cases of alleged maladministration in the BMC.
The information in the calender has been culled from internal BMC sources and the State Government, he said.
