Doctors from the St George and Bombay hospital and police officers from the Worli traffic branch, on Thursday, deposed before the legislature probe committee in connection with the fight between traffic police sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi and MLAs.

The doctors were questioned about the alleged pressure from the police to provide false medical reports of Suryavanshi, who was beaten up by a group of MLAs inside the Vidhan Bhavan premises on March 18.

Dr TP Lahane, dean of JJ group of hospitals, which governs the St George hospital, was reportedly questioned about an alleged phone call that he received from a senior police officer on the day Suryavanshi got hospitalised.

Dr Lahane reportedly told the panel that he had received a call from an unknown person posing as the deputy commissioner of police and requested him to issue a report stating that the officer was seriously injured. Reports from the two hospitals have stated that Suryavanshi’s injuries were not serious in nature and his vital parameters are within the normal range.

Dr Shivkumar Utture and Dr Kulkarni from St George Hospital, Archana Patil, director of health services and Dr Choudhary from the Bombay hospital deposed before the panel. Two police officers from the traffic cell of Worli police were also questioned.

One of the officers reportedly told the panel that Suryavanshi wanted to meet home minister RR Patil on Monday, when he was summoned before the panel.
