The body parts of model Minakshi Thapa, 26, allegedly murdered by Amit Kumar Jaiswal, 36, and Preeti Surin, 26, a few days ago, were recovered by crime branch officials from the septic tank of Surin’s Allahabad house on Wednesday.
A senior crime branch official confirmed the development. The police are yet to recover the head. The body parts will be brought to Mumbai and sent for forensic tests, police said.
Police said Thapa, an aspiring actor, came to Mumbai from Dehradun and met Jaiswal and Surin in March on the sets of a Madhur Bhandarkar film ‘Heroine.’ The duo also aspired to make a career in Bollywood. Thapa told them she came from an extremely affluent family and the duo conspired to kidnap the girl and seek ransom.
On March 12, after convincing Thapa of a prospective modeling assignment for her in Uttar Pradesh, the trio left the city. The duo asked for a ransom of Rs 15 lakh threatening Thapa’s mother they would make a blue film of her, publicise it and kill her.
Thapa’s cell phone and bank cards were seized and her mother deposited Rs 30,000 on two accounts in her bank account. However, the duo eventually killed her. Thapa’s brother, Navraj, registered a missing person’s complaint on March 17 while her mother registered a kidnapping complaint on March 20. The case was then transferred to Mumbai crime branch (unit 9).
