The Nalasopara police have sought custody of the seven persons arrested for the alleged murder of Om, 7, and his sister Ritika Jaiswal, 3 in the name of religious rite.

The father of one of the daughters-in-law lodged a first information report (FIR) against the Jaiswal family on October 27.

According to the police, Renu Jaiswal’s father registered a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means against eight members of the family.

Vishal Jaiswal, his wife Rita, parents Sachalal and Sumitradevi, and three others were arrested for allegedly killing the children.

Himanshu alias Dolly, 20, the main accused, had first victimised Renu with claims that she was possessed by an evil spirit.
