The girl's mother found her crying near a public toilet, following which a police complaint was filed.

"The girl said an 'old uncle' uncle took her away. A boy who was playing with her said that the man had a beard," said a police officer from Dharavi police station, adding that the since the victim is too young, it not possible for them to get the description of the accused.

The police said they were questioning a few residents of the area. "We suspect that the accused may be an acquaintance. The area from where she was picked up is usually crowded," the officer said.

The police are also seeking help of the mohalla committees of the area, along with few women.

The police have registered a rape case as the victim was bleeding from her private parts, but are awaiting medical reports.
