Pritesh Doshi, who was accused of raping two girls, including the daughter of an actor-film maker, will remain behind bars for a few more days.

On May 19, 2009, Doshi, who had returned from the US, was arrested by Malad police for allegedly raping two teenaged girls within a span of 10 days.

The Bombay High Court rejected 26-year-old Doshi’s bail application saying the DNA report was against him.

Doshi claimed that he has been falsely implicated in the case.

Doshi’s advocates, Shailesh Kantharia and Shaunak Mehta, argued that the first information report (FIR) was lodged against an unknown person.

The day the FIR was lodged, Doshi was arrested and the even the identification parade conducted, argued Kantharia.

While rejecting the bail application, Justice RC Chavan directed the sessions judge to complete the trial expeditiously.

On May 10, 2009, Doshi bumped into the daughter of an actor-film maker at Lokhandwala. He then allegedly forced her to accompany him to mantra, a hotel at Madh island, and threatened to inform her parents about her former boyfriend.

At the hotel, he allegedly had sex with the girl.

The girl returned home in an autorickshaw and informed her father about the incident.

On May 19, Doshi allegedly met up with a class 7 student, who was going to buy books with a classmate, at Charkop.

He told the girl that her father was admitted to hospital and asked her to accompany him. He allegedly took the girl to the same hotel at Madh island.

The hotel staff turned him away as the girl “looked very young”. He then took the girl to JB Cottage at Malwani and allegedly raped her.

After returning home the girl informed her mother, who filed an FIR and Doshi was arrested on the same day.
