CR halted: Rs1.18 lakh stolen from diva station

In the chaos created by irked commuters vandalising ticket counters, coupons and cash collectively worth Rs 1.18 lakh were stolen at Diva station on Friday.

Around 1,261 coupons, along with Rs 54,906 in cash, were stolen from two counters at Diva station, officials from the ticket-booking office said.

“Around 1,053 coupons worth Rs 52,650 and 208 coupons worth Rs 10,400 were stolen from the two counters. Cash worth Rs 32,178 was taken from the first counter, Rs 17,478, from the second and Rs 5,250 from the third counter,” said a senior official from Diva ticket booking office.

Around seven automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs) were also damaged by commuters.

“We have taken note of the robbery, but are yet to register a case,” said a senior police officer from Thane GRP.
