The Crime Branch is investigating into the alleged threat calls made to Samajwadi Party leader and son of former SP MP Abu Azmi, Farhan.

Farhan complained of the calls about three weeks ago, claiming the caller had demanded Rs 55 lakh and two AK-47 rifles from him.

The caller told Azmi that he was from Pakistan and that his family was being held hostage by one Abu Faisal in Pakistan.

“He said he was proud of Kasab,” Azmi said.

“There was one call from a “+55” number which probably was made using skype or something like that whereas the other eight to nine calls were made from local numbers,” he said, adding that the caller identified himself Afzal Khan.

“He has given his application and we are looking into it,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria.
