The estranged wife of Virendra Tawade, the doctor linked to the Sanatan Sanstha arrested in connection with the killing of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar, will be contacted in a day or two by the CBI to cross check some statements he has made.
The Tawades have filed for divorce and she had nothing to do with the case, CBI sources said.
She returned from London on Monday and the CBI wished to record her statement.
On Monday, the CBI told a Pune court that the agency wanted to confront Tawade in the presence of his wife to corroborate what he had been saying during his interrogation.
According to CBI officials, Tawade had said his wife had kept the registration certificate book of his bike, suspected to have used in the Narendra Dabholkar murder, in a locker.
“We want to crosscheck from his wife if Virendra Tawade is telling the truth,” said CBI counsel BP Raju.
