The police suspect the role of an insider in the murder of a 79-year-old woman found with her throat slit in Dadar on Thursday.

Sita Anantnarayan was killed when she was alone and at home. A gold chain, ring and four bangles that she was wearing were missing.

After her husband K.V. Anantnarayan (90), returned home from work around 7 pm, he found her body in the bedroom. He is a stenographer with Rajshri Productions.

The couple was residing at the ground floor apartment of building no. 26 at Adarsh

Nagar in Dadar (West) for the past 50 years.

Their two sons live in Kandivli and Pune and they used to visit them regularly.

“We will question those who would be in the know about the daily schedule of the couple.

We will talk to the housemaid, watchman, plumbers or cable operators who visited the building regularly,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Dadar division), Madhukar Sankhe.

Sankhe said: “The building watchman had gone on an approved leave two days ago. We asked him to return so that we could question him. The elderly couple also has a maid whom we have questioned. So far nothing suspicious has come to the fore.”

Dadar senior police inspector A.D. Unde said: “We have registered a case of murder and robbery against unidentified accused.”
