Controversial encounter specialist Daya Nayak was transferred to Amboli police station, which is placed in zone 9 and under west region of the Mumbai police commissionerate.
An order to this effect was issued on Monday night.
Nayak, who was reinstated in the Mumbai police a few days back, was initially posted at the Mumbai police control room and then for a brief period at the Marine drive police station.
Sources said Nayak has good network of informers in the western suburbs and also in the north region and his experience would be put to use by senior officers in the city police for detection and arresting criminals.
Nayak, who has to his credit 83 encounter killings, was reinstated in the police service in January this year by the state government.
The 1995-batch officer had been suspended once before in January 2006 after a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court ordered the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) to conduct an inquiry into Nayak’s unaccounted wealth.
