Even 24 hours after fashion designer Riyaz Gangji registered a complaint against a senior citizen and secretary of a housing society, police have not arrested either of them.

Madhukar Chaudhari, senior inspector of Santacruz police station, said they are recording statements of Dinanath Chaturvedi, 71, and secretary Ravi Dev and would act soon. “We have not arrested anybody as of now. Investigations are on,” said Chaudhari.

Gangji said he was not satisfied with the police action. “I was arrested immediately after they [Chaturvedi and Dev] registered a case against me, but the police have not taken any action against them even when I have produced video evidence to the police,” added Gangji.

According to the police, Chaturvedi and Dev, along with eight persons, had barged into the property of Gangji where the showroom work is going on and also assaulted Gangji’s employees.

Earlier, the police had arrested Gangji and his driver for allegedly assaulting Chaturvei and Dev, both residents of Sujata Society at the Juhu Tara Road where Gangji is coming up with his new showroom, Libaz.

“This incident has defamed me and now after I filed a complaint with the police I have been getting continuous messages requesting me to withdraw my complaint,” said Gangji.
