“We have nothing against Anna Hazare’s meetings,” said Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakre, refuting the allegations that his party had conspired to attack a vehicle in the social activist’s convoy in Nagpur on Wednesday.

Hazare’s aide Suresh Pathare had alleged that a Youth Congress worker from Satara had pelted a vehicle in Hazare’s convoy with stones. “Let police provide him security. But, his associates distribute objectionable pamphlets on our leaders such as Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Let Anna first clarify who is behind it,” said Thakre.

He said Hazare should clear the air on why he was allowing such objectionable pamphlets to be distributed at his public meetings. “Our workers will not tolerate this and if such activities continue, they [Team Anna] will be given a fitting reply,” he added.
