Direct train to Shirdi from Friday

Devotees of Sai Baba will be able to take a direct train to Shirdi from Friday. On the same day, the foundation for the Shirdi airport would be laid by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.

The train will start from Dadar station at 9.45 pm every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. After travelling 455 km to Shirdi, the train will start its return journey at 10 am and reach Dadar by 4 pm the same day. The inaugural train will be flagged off at Shirdi.

The fare will be Rs 531 for air-conditioned class, Rs 131 for sleeper class and Rs 101 for the general class.

On Monday, the state government said the work on the Shirdi airport would start on Friday itself. The 280-acre site for the airport is 15 km from the shrine. The project will cost Rs 260 crore. The airport is expected to start operations by November 2011.
